The Verb

The Verb:

The word which shows an action in a sentence is known as the verb.

ایک لفظ جو فقرے کے اندر کسی ایکشن کو ظاہر کرتا ہے فعل کہلاتا ہے۔دوسرے الفاظ میں یہ کہا جا سکتا ہے کہ ہونے

In other words it can be said that an action of doing work is called verb.

دوسرے الفاظ میں یہ کہا جا سکتا ہے کہ ہونیوالےکام کا ایکشن بھی فعل کہلاتا ہے۔

For Example:

He is completing his work.

They are playing football in the ground.

He is driving a car.

In these sentences ,Complete ,Play and Drive are verb.

Note: There are many verbs which show a state of being: as the following sentences show:

He is a good man.

They seem very happy today.

She is in good mood today.

we are sad now.

The Kinds of Verb:

There are three kinds of verb

  1. Transitive 
  2. Intransitive 
  3. Auxiliary

i) The Transitive Verb:

( Here an action passes over from the doer or subject to an object.)

A Verb which needs an object after it to form a sentence, is called transitive verb OR a transitive verb is that which  is followed by an object.

 ایک فقرہ بنانے کیلئے اپنے بعد ایک مفعول  ہونا ضروری مانتا ہے یعنی اس فعل کے بعد مفعول کا لگانا ضروری ہوتا ہے۔ verbیہ

For example:

She drinks milk.

They play football daily.

I read books in free time.

He takes food.

We killed a snake yesterday.

2)  An Intransitive verb:

(An action does not pass over to an object)

A verb which does not require any object after it to complete a sentence i called an intransitive verb.

کی ضرورت نہیں ہوتی ہے۔ objectایک جملہ مکمل کرنے کے لیے ورب کے بعد

For example:

They work fast.

The boy ran.

He was badly hurt.

They are sleeping.

She walks beautifully.

The sun rises.

Note: We cannot form a passive sentence from an intransitive verb.

3)  An Auxiliary OR Helping verb:
